There should be more bars and restaurants like The Blu Grouse. It perfectly balances White Center heritage with a lovely rustic warmth, and you feel it from the moment you walk through the door.
The Blu Grouse is a bar and restaurant in the White Center area, south of central Seattle.
There’s nothing pretentious past the dark blue front door, only future friends and satisfied stomachs. They even make their sauces and dressings in-house; how many restaurants can say that?
Local businesses give our communities identity and personality. Instead of supporting franchises spread across America, we should choose small businesses whenever possible.
We’d like to shine the culinary spotlight on The Blu Grouse for keeping this spirit alive (and giving us somewhere to play cornhole on weekends).
Mason Jars on The Blu Grouse Patio
The Blu Grouse has a menu that could pacify Gordon Ramsey and desserts that could make him shed a tear.
If you like eating outdoors, take a seat beside the fire pit with your mason jar cocktail in hand. The atmosphere puts you at ease, while the menu makes you wish you’d ordered more.
Quality bar food is not a myth; The Blu Grouse has been serving it for a long time.
The owner grew up in the Burien/White Center area—maybe that’s why The Blu Grouse feels so home-like and warm.
The warmth by the fire pit is slightly more literal. It’s a magical place to be at night and, if you’re lucky, the stars will make an appearance.
Bring your best cornhole skills—you’ll find a set on the patio. If you’re a Jenga player, make sure to keep your hand steady for their giant Jenga set!
The Crispy Chicken Sammy and Other Faves
I’ve got to tell you about my favorite menu item first: the Crispy Chicken Sammy. Crispy panko-breaded chicken pairs perfectly with the slaw and garlic aioli. With Telera bread dressed with spicy honey sauce, it’s a perfect lunch or dinner.
There’s something for everyone at The Blu Grouse, but the Steak Salad deserves your attention.
It blurs the line between fantasy and food. Six ounces of prime sirloin sit atop romaine, arugula, and bib lettuce, dressed with cotija cheese and poblano dressing. If that wasn’t enough, a few bacon-wrapped jalapeno peppers garnish the dish.
The Blu Grouse has a kids menu too, but we’re sure adults sneak in some bites here and there.
Who can blame them? The Kids Grilled Cheese is made with toasted sourdough bread and cheddar cheese.
