For Patients With:

All Levels of Hearing Loss

I have been wearing hearing aids since the 1950s, but it wasn’t until I found Highline Hearing Professionals that I really learned about them. I found Highline about 20 years ago, and for the first time, things were explained to me. I found I had choices for hearing aids and did not have to just take the one that the doctor wanted to sell me. Everyone at Highline is very knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. They work hard to fit you with just the right one. And they have a follow-up and maintenance program that really helps. Give them a try, and I am sure you will like them as much as I do.

Overview of Behind-the-Ear Hearing Aids

Behind-the-Ear (BTE) units offer the most flexibility, adaptability and power of all forms of hearing aid technology. Custom earmolds or earbuds provide you with a comfortable fit for all-day use, while open-fit earpieces help prevent the “plugged up” feeling some users experience.

The receiver, microphones and processing are all housed inside the shell that sits snugly on the ear, transmitting processed sound to the ear canal via acoustic tubing. Easy adjustment, with simple switches to quickly control volume and program settings to better match your surroundings, are simpler than with any other style.

BTE units are also available as miniature versions and come in a variety of colors to enhance wearing discretion.

Special Care/Maintenance

Daily hearing aid cleaning is an essential part of getting the best performance out of your device. Follow the instructions provided by your hearing care professional or the unit manufacturer for best results.

BTE units are among the easiest to clean because earmolds can be removed from the electronics portion and soaked in warm, soapy water once a week. Many BTE instruments are now rechargeable, eliminating battery issues, but even those with batteries tend to last up to seven days.
