“Hearing aids can be your best friend.”
Judith learned she had a hearing loss when she was seven years old, following a hearing test at school. However, she says, “Nothing was done about the hearing loss. I did not get hearing aids until I was 37 years old. Far too long to go without hearing.”
Having worn hearing aids for many years, she was pretty confident when she visited Highline Hearing for the first time. Judith found everyone to be “professional and friendly.”
She says hearing aids have had a “major” impact on her life, though she recalls that adjusting to them after not hearing clearly for so long was difficult. She says, “Hearing all those noises was awful. I had to teach my brain to only listen to important things. Like who wants to listen to the refrigerator?
“It is hard work to get accustomed to hearing aids, but worth it. Hearing aids are not like getting glasses for the first time. Glasses you put on and oh you get to see things. Hearing aids are different. You have to work at getting the benefit of the aids.”
Judith wears her hearing aids between 12 and 15 hours daily and says, ““Hearing aids have made such a great difference in my life. I would not be without them.”
To anyone considering an appointment at Highline, she pleads, “If you have a hearing loss, you are missing out on life. Please get hearing aids for yourself and your friends and family.
“Please go, have your hearing checked, get aids if that is what is required. Take the time and effort to learn how to use your aids. Hearing aids can be your best friend if you learn how to use them.”
